2013 Season Update
The top two pictures were taken June 12th. The next two were taken May 15th, 2013. As you can see, the berry bushes are full of green berries that just need to ripen, so weather permitting we are very hopeful for a fruitful season!
We started preparing for the 2013 blueberry season early in January with the annual pruning, which was completed in four days. The pruning crew doesn't waste any time, and they cover a lot of bushes daily. We have finished picking up and burning the pruned off branches. This takes a great deal of time, but it is important to us, as we pride ourselves on having clean and safe fields, so we clear the pruned debris ourselves by hand.
NEW THIS YEAR! Last summer, we had 2 400 foot horizontal wells installed by a company from Michigan, which will be able to accommodate all our watering needs throughout the summer season. We also needed a larger water supply to be used in frost prevention, which sometimes happens during the blooming season. A late frost in 2012, and our lack of adequate water supply for irrigation, was what cost us the entire crop last year. In order to relocate our pump, and tie the new wells into our original underground irrigation system, we had 40 mature bushes transplanted by a friend using his back hoe.
IF all goes according to schedule, our picking season for 2013 will arrive on time. We are hopeful to be open for picking in early July. Please check back on this website for future updates, which will be posted as we get closer to the harvest season.

Eenigenburg's Blueberries is a family-run farm located just outside the DeMotte city limits in Northwest Indiana. Our farm contains 13 varieties of blueberries that are generally available between July 5th and August 10th each year.
Things to bring if you are picking your own berries:
- Sunscreen (be sure to put it on before you get into the field or touch the berries)
- Container to bring your berries home in. Do not worry if you don't have anything, many of our customers recycle their used boxes and bring them back to us. We can provide these used boxes to you free of charge.
- Cash or check (we do not accept credit cards at this time)
